All individuals entrants are automatically placed in the age group category, unless you choose a different division below during the registration process.
Age groups are specific to gender and consist of five year increments (14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+).
USA Triathlon age groups are assigned based on your age as of December 31st of the race year.
Clydesdale / Athena
- Female/Athena (over 165 lbs),
- Male/Clydesdale (over 220 lbs.)
An AquaBike is a Swim-Bike format that is encompassed in the sprint and international races. The AquaBike category will start in it’s own wave and will have a different age group structure based on the size of the AquaBike category. The prizes in the AqauBike category will be unique for this category and will be five deep overall for each gender.
A Duathlon is a Bike-Run format that is encompassed in the sprint and international races. The Duathlon category will start in it’s own wave during the Relay/AquaBike swim waves and will have a different age group structure based on the size of the Duathlon category. The prizes in the Duathlon category will be unique for this category and will be five deep overall for each gender.
Participants have the option to enter the international or sprint distance relay team, consisting of 2–3 people. The team captain can choose which person will complete each specific discipline. Team members share a single timing chip, which is passed from one team member to another in transition.
Athletes with physical disabilities.
Mountain bike category is only open for the Sprint distance. Triathletes using bikes with tires at least 1.75 inches in width.
